What happened
- Adani Power reported consolidated net profit of ₹7,019.32 crore for the September 2026 quarter against ₹2,906.46 crore a year earlier, up 142%, Free Press Journal reported. That was 44.2% above the ₹4,866.60 crore of the June quarter, and the first-half profit was ₹11,885.92 crore against ₹6,211.59 crore.
- Free Press Journal gave revenue from operations as ₹19,438.68 crore against ₹13,456.84 crore, up 44.5%. Kotak Neo gave total revenue as ₹19,951 crore, up 39.4%, and EBITDA as ₹8,743 crore, up 45.7%. The two outlets use different revenue measures.
- Kotak Neo said the quarter included ₹2,422 crore of prior-period revenue from past energy-charge revisions, and that higher imported coal costs raised expenses. Free Press Journal also attributed the gain to one-time prior-period revenue recognition.
- Power sales were 26.4 billion units against 23.7 billion, and the plant load factor was 70.1% against 62.8%, Kotak Neo said. It added that the first 660 MW unit of Korba Phase-II was synchronised with the grid and that a 25-year agreement for 1,320 MW was signed with Uttarakhand Power Corporation. The shares closed at ₹182.25 against ₹185.27 on Kite data, a fall of 1.63% by my calculation.
Why it matters
Good to know: Plant load factor is the share of a power plant's maximum possible output that it actually generated over the period. A rise from 62.8% to 70.1% means the plants ran harder, which lifts sales volumes without any change in capacity.
